IUCr Lattice Parameter Project
The IUCr is sponsoring a project to assess the accuracy and
precision of the lattice parameters measured in the laboratory. To this
end, kits containing mounted crystals and their approximate orientation
matrices are being sent to crystallographers all around the world.
Crystallographers will be asked to spend approximately a day centering
crystals, measuring angles and cell constants, and recording data. At
the conclusion of their experiments, the participants can anonymously
ftp their data to project headquarters at the Hauptman Woodward Medical
Research Institute, where the data will be pooled and analyzed.
We are looking for additional crystallographers to participate
in this project during the next 6 to 8 months. Interested parties can
e-mail Mary Jo Kirisits at kirisits@hwi.buffalo.edu for more information.
